Learn how to neatly and skilfullly marzipan and ice your own fruit or sponge cake.
Materials required:
A cake (we suggest an 8 inch cake, round or square, fruit or sponge. However, if your cake is a sponge cake you will also need buttercream and jam of your choice.
Fondant paste icing (not ready rolled)
Marzipan (this can be replaced with a second layer of icing if you don't like marzipan)
Rolling pin
Apricot jam
Vodka, small amount
Icing sugar, for dusting
Cake board, approx. 2 inches larger in diameter than your cake
Sharp knife
Flat rounded knife
Pin, with a large head
